Founded by the great visionary Ammembal Subba Rao Pai way back in 1891, Canara High School Association (CHSA)
has a commendable history of educating generations in the past 131 years! CHSA, now has over a dozen educational
institutions, imparting quality education from Nursery level to Graduation/Post Graduation. Academic discipline, student
centered learning opportunities, hard work, dedicated team work and upholding the exalted philosophy of our
philanthropic founder in imparting modern education blended with ancient cultural values, remain the key of success in
the path of progress towards excellence.
Glad to inform you that your Alma Mater, is undergoing rapid transformation quantitatively & qualitatively, keeping the
noble philosophy/vision of āQuality Education at Affordable Costā intact. With the quality objective being set to establish
an excellent, value-added āHigher Educational Hub/Universityā to meet the challenges of global competitiveness and to
impart holistic education leading to the creation of āCanara Centers of Excellenceā in the region; the āroad mapā is being
worked out for its multidimensional growth & enhanced visibility in the days to come. Recent acquisition of Vikaas group
of institutions is a major milestone towards achieving the above goal! CHSA has decided to set benchmarks against
reputed institutes/universities to draw some of their best practices for better branding, sustainable market standing and

this juncture, I would like to appeal to you all for your active participation and backing in our endeavors, to achieve the

exciting experience for all of you, cherishing the nostalgic memories! Donāt miss this rare opportunity to meet your
nearest & dearest old friends / batch mates, your revered teachers and more than that, to personally see the commendable
progress made at your Alma-Mater, in providing value-added education. Some new initiatives/action plans are envisaged,
for implementation at Canara institutions in the near future, as detailed below. Your magnanimous support & contribution
in one or more of the following ways, to your revered Alma Mater, is highly solicited.
- To motivate/facilitate constituent college faculty to be engaged in research activity, quality journal publications
(Scopus indexed/Web of Science/Quartile ranked) and scholarly works and to have doctoral/post-doctoral
research programmes.
- To possess necessary infrastructure for quality research works, setting-up start-up incubation centers, technology
development centers and seamless access to modern information resources.
- To secure merit-based external research funding from various public/private agencies.
- To explore new UG/PG programs to be introduced in the thrust areas having good market demand and job
opportunities.
- To explore introduction/promotion of āInternationalizationā towards improving institute ranking and accelerated,
multi-dimensional growth. It is desired to start twinning arrangements / MOUs with foreign universities on
academic tie-ups, student/faculty exchange, internships, joint publications, semester-abroad studies, research
collaborations, dual degree programs & the like, in line with NEP-2020.
- Colleges to promote Institute-Industry Interface through regular guest lectures/workshops, visiting professorships,
industry visits, campus connect programs and industry-institute interactive meets. Recently introduced āProfessor
of Practiceā scheme from UGC to be tried.
- To explore āAcademic Partnershipsā with reputed companies/organizations which enables the students and faculty
to access modern learning assets as academic supports at free of cost, provides for specialized training and lab
assistance to the students, provides Integrated Student Personality Development Program and the likeā¦.
- To tap the leading companies & R&D organizations for faculty development training, courseware redesign,
campus-connect programmes and live projects on campuses to bridge the workplace-campus gap. āFinishing
schoolā concept to be tried with contributing companies through distinguished alumni support.
- To focus on extended services and societal engagement through community development projects. Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) Schemes of Companies/Organizations may be exploited for this.
- To send proposals to get endowments, professorships and visiting chairs from reputed industries/organizations.
- To woo the support from performing/well-settled/benevolent alumni in all developmental projects and growth
plans. Regular alumni meet in different locations and alumni association activities to be boosted.
- To present & showcase effectively, the salient accomplishments, leading milestones and thriving landmarks of
Canara group of institutions & itās all stakeholders, in the mass media & social networking platforms.
- Establishing āAlumni sponsored Honorary Chairā (in the name of contributing Alumni) in any of the departments
(of their choice) at Canara Institutes. Under this scheme, very eminent Retired Professors from our own
institutions or from other reputed institutes / research organizations can be appointed as āProfessor Emeritusā.
- Building/developing āAlumni Guest Housesā in Canara Institute Campus, in the name of contributing
alumnus/alumna/group of alumni. Such guest houses will be made available for the visiting alumni/guests/faculty,
at nominal maintenance charges.
- Organizing annual, āAlumni sponsored Conference/Seminar/Summer or Winter Schoolā (in the name of
contributing Alumni) in any of the departments (of their choice) at Canara Institutes.
- Organizing āAnnual Alumni Meetā (in the name of contributing Alumni Group) at Canara Institute Campus.
- Developing āstate-of-the-art Laboratory/Technology Incubation Centreā (in the name of contributing Alumni
Group) in the emerging areas of Science/Engineering/Technology, in any of the departments (of their choice) at
Canara Institutes.
- Organizing annual āAlumni sponsored Guest Lectures/Workshops/Webinar Seriesā (in the name of contributing
Alumni) at department level/institution level, from distinguished subject experts/industrial experts.
- To promote āCANARA Alumni Corpus Fundā through generous donations received from our alumni. It is
planned to utilize this money, in the name of contributing alumni, for various constructive purposes as detailed
above or for awarding āScholarshipsā to top performing āCanaraā students and hence, to improve the quality of
intake or for developing state-of-the-art āLaboratoriesā or āSmart Class Roomsā or āStudent Activity Centersā or
for subscribing to the āDigital Library Facilityā in the institutes or for any other such worthy purposes, as
suggested by the contributing alumni.
You are the true ambassadors of the glory of āCanara Educational Institutionsā! Please join hands in achieving the all-
round development of your Alma Mater, making it a world leader in quality education. Please set out exemplary steps as a
mark of your love, affection, regards and indebtedness towards your Alma Mater.
